Charleston County Councilmember Anna B. Johnson of District 8 continues to hold monthly round table discussions for citizens to learn more about Charleston County Government programs, services or various topics of interests. The meetings are normally held at 12:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of every month at the John’s Island Regional Library located at 3531 Maybank Highway on Johns Island.
Topics for the August 22 meeting are:
- Margaret Peck will discuss an initiative between MUSC, Roper St. Francis and Trident United Way called “Healthy Tri-County”. She will explain how the Healthy Tri-County: Our Health, Our Future, 2018-2023 Tri-County Community Health Improvement Plan will impact our region by improving local health outcomes. She will also provide information on the Type 2 Diabetes epidemic.
- Marvella E. Ford, PhD, will discuss strategies to reduce cancer disparities in South Carolina.
Topics for the September 26 meeting are:
· Joseph Debney, Executive Director of Charleston County Board of Elections and Registration, will be discussing voter registration requirements, absentee voting, curbside voting, updating voter registration, becoming a poll worker, and locating polling places. In addition, if needed, staff will be available to take a picture for the photo ID requirement.
“My purpose for holding these monthly meetings is to share information with my constituents and to listen to their concerns,” Johnson said. “Each month, different speakers are invited to address topics of interest as expressed by the public.”
