Topics for the June 27 meeting are:
· Charleston County Emergency Management Department
o Learn what preparations need to be done before the storm hits
o See what resources need to be in your emergency kit
o Learn about the CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Team) program
o Learn about the DART (Disaster Animal Response Team) program
o Learn the importance of having a family communications plan
o Learn how social media is utilized during emergency events and where citizens can turn to stay up to date with the latest information
· New Pilot program at Charleston County called CITIBOT that allows citizens to text in their issues to Charleston County without having to make a phone call or send email.
“My purpose for holding these monthly meetings is to share information about County-related issues and to listen to citizens’ concerns,” Johnson said. “Each month, different speakers are invited to address topics of interest as expressed by the public.”
